Which Tense Is Used For Daily Routines
Answer: the present simple tense.
When talking about everyday, habitual activities we use the present simple tense. This shows that these are things we do on a regular basis.
The present simple tense for daily routines is formed as follows:
- Use the present simple form of the verb, e.g. “I eat breakfast at 7 o’ clock.”
- Use “s” or “es” for 3rd person singular form , e.g. “He plays video games after school”, “She watches T.V. in the evening”
- For negatives, use the present simple form of the verb “do” as follows: do/does + not + infinitive without to, e.g. “I don’tdo homework on Saturdays”, “She doesn’tdrink tea in the morning”
- For questions, use the present simple form of the verb “do” as follows: do/does + subject + infinitive without to, e.g. “Doyouplay rugby on Tuesdays?”, “DoesMariaeat lunch at school?”
1.Introduce 4 times of the day: morning, afternoon, evening and night Quickly introduce the 4 words by drawing a picture on the board:
Next erase the moon and starts and invite a student up to the board. Say, “Draw afternoon”. Help if necessary and have the student draw the sun high in the sky. Erase the sun and invite other students to draw the other times of the day.
Have your students copy the chart into their notebooks or onto a sheet of paper.

What is Daily Lesson Log ?
A Daily Lesson Log is a standard template that covers a weeks worth of lessons in one tabular format. The use of a DLL supports teachers in upholding quality education standards and helps them plan lessons efficiently and effectively. DLLs are used by teachers with at least one-year teaching experience, including teachers with prior experience in private schools or higher education institutions.
Furthermore, flexibility is allowed in the use of the DLL since teachers do not need to go through all parts in one class session as these can be done across the week. It can be prepared by teachers through a computer or by hand, individually or collaboratively.
Only newly-hired teachers without professional teaching experience are required to prepare Detailed Lesson Plans . This practice helps them organize and manage their lessons better and further develop their lesson planning skills. Once the newly-hired teacher obtains a Very Satisfactory or Outstanding rating, they will be allowed to transition to the use of a DLL, which incentivizes them to perform better.

Kindergarten Lesson Plans: Writers Workshop
Many years ago, Deedee and I wrote a curriculum for writers workshop. We studied what the experts had to say and combined with our own years of experience. Essentially, we taught a day, then went home and wrote out the lesson plans from that day. Then we repeated that process for 180 days. We know writers workshop can feel overwhelming. We know that some teachers spend HOURS planning and second-guessing their instruction. So we wrote concise, page-long, scripted lesson plans that support YOU as the teacher AND the students you teach.
We could not have been more thrilled by the results.
As I said, everything is planned. The image above is a month at a glance lesson plan page. But each lesson is filled with easy to use instruction!
Then each day is constructed for you Just PRINT and TEACH!
A year later, we were frustrated with our districts math program. It was undercooked and worksheet ridden. Yuck! Students dont learn math with a worksheet!
So we repeated the process. We looked to the experts . Then we tapped into our own experiences in the classroom. We taught a day, then went home and wrote out the lessons!
Our math lessons are FILLED with hands-on learning that is done cooperatively with a partner. Learning is social and FUN!
And yes, we did include practice pages!

Both Deedee and I love teaching reading in a small group. We know this is one of the most research-based ways to differentiate our instruction! How did we begin? You got it, we consulted the experts . Then, based on our own classroom experiences, we sat down and created lessons.
We also wrote texts so you dont have to sell a kidney to get a leveled reading room. These books are leveled according to guided reading levels. So students can progress at their own individual pace.
We included word work lesson plans
AND guided writing activities.
You can read a detailed blog post on these units over on Deedees Blog. You can see that post by clicking HERE.

What is a Detailed Lesson Plan?
According to Reference.com
A detailed lesson plan is a thorough description of a teachers instructions for a particular class. A teacher usually makes a daily lesson plan to teach a specific course of instructions.
The sole purpose of a detailed lesson plan is to outline the program for a lesson in simple details, which will include the lessons objective, how the objective is going to be achieved and a way of testing how well the objective was received by the students. If a teacher plans on delivering more than one lesson in one class, he or she can divide the material into multiple lesson plans.
