Most families are on a tight budget and dont have the capacity to spend thousands on a great homeschool curriculum. But thats ok, you dont need to.
We actually do a mixture of free curriculum and paid now we are in middle school grades. But in elementary grades, we definitely used mainly free resources.
We did our first map testing for homeschoolers standardized test in January a few years ago. Mainly as I was a little concerned that we werent doing enough, and to get him ready for college. My son tested in the average range for kids 5 years older! I am only saying this as a lot of our elementary curriculum was from this list.
Free homeschool curriculum is not bad, and in some cases, it is better than paid courses!

How To Expand On The Kindergarten Curriculum List
For instance, not all kindergarten aged children are on the same level, but they all learn the same way.
Think about that for a minute.
In kindergarten its all within the range of normal for children to still be learning letter sounds to reading beginner chapter books. And some are even reading higher level books.
However, what makes it hard at this age is presenting skills in a fun way or play-based.
As I mentioned, during the preschool to kindergarten years all children learn the same way play, discovery, movement, music, art, hand-crafts, and interaction with a loving caring adult.
So, when you use free curriculum, you can gauge the follow skill levels:
- Since children have better fine motor coordination closer to first grade, you want to continue to see improvement through crafts NOT writing.
- Using the free phonics and reading literature, gauge your childs reading level.
- And use the math and phonics to evaluate your childs familiarity with numbers and sounds.
All the years Ive used free curriculum, it helped me to prep each of my sons for a more formal first grade or even the next year.
