Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

Growing kids often get hungry between meals.

However, many packaged snacks for kids are extremely unhealthy. Theyre often full of refined flour, added sugars, and artificial ingredients.

Snack time is a great opportunity to sneak some extra nutrients into your childs diet.

Instead of highly processed snack foods, fill your childs tummy with whole foods that will provide energy and nutrition.

Here is a list of kid-friendly snacks that are both healthy and delicious.

Frozen Greek Yogurt Drops

This snack is a great one to make ahead of time and store for when the kids start claiming theyre hungry. You can open the container and let them enjoy.

Homemade Mac And Cheese Bites

Fun and healthy barnyard farm snack for kids. Pig is ham w cheese snout ...

Mac and cheese isnt just kid-approved dinner its a super nostalgic meal I think we all crave on a weekly basis.

Unlike tomato sauce, which can be acidic and overpowering, mac and cheese is wonderfully creamy and mild in flavor.

When you make it in a muffin pan, the outer edges will turn golden and crispy, giving it an amazing texture and added taste.

Better still, you can so easily dress these up for the grown-ups if need be. How about topping them with pulled pork?

If youve ever been to a party with kids, you know that they tend to all converge around the potato chips and pretzels.

You probably also know that most parents dont want their kids eating deep-fried snacks all night.

Instead, these potato chips are baked. Theyre still lovely and crunchy, but theyre so much healthier.

Keep it simple with salt and pepper, or try out these popcorn seasonings for something extra special.

Special Meals: Family Fun In The Kitchen

When our kids were little, I had them in the kitchen with me as much as possible. I started something with them called Special Meals. Every week one of our four children would help me:

  • Buy the ingredients at the grocery store
  • Prepare the meal for our family

It was a wonderful experience! They looked forward to it and so did I.

I had a few childrens cookbooks with brightly colored pictures on hand that they liked to flip through. They frequently picked their main dish from here. Then I would ask them to choose a fruit, vegetable, and dessert.

When preparing the meal, I had them doing age-appropriate tasks helping me measure ingredients, stir, and mix. We had so much fun!

And now all 4 of our kids love cooking and have even prepared delicious meals for our family , including Pad Thai, Korean beef with rice, fried chicken sandwiches, pasta, and more.

I sleep better knowing that my children will be able to survive without me . Plus, I dont have to worry about them starving when they go to college or beyond because I know they can make great meals for themselves.

How To Build A Healthy Preschool Snack:

19+ Healthy Snack Ideas Kids WILL Eat
  • Measure the elastic string. Measure the length youd like the necklace to be, then double the length and cut.
  • Thread the needle. Thread the needle and fold the string in half.
  • Add your snacks. Use the needle to thread the snacks onto the string, making sure to stop pushing the fruit or cheese down well above the end of the string. Repeat until you come just before halfway, then add enough marshmallows to spell the name youd like to add. Continue adding snacks leaving plenty of room to tie the necklace.
  • Tie the necklace. The elastic string can be tricky to tie. The easiest way is to form a loop around your finger and push the string through. Pull VERY tightly. If you just pull as you normally would, it will come undone right away. The trick is to pull hard enough.
  • FUN FACT: Put each snack into a separate bowl to encourage kids to grab and thread a variety of snacks onto their necklace.
